Nrf2 participates in progression of osteoarthritis through modulating redox balance

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common degenerative joint diseases associated with aging, obesity and trauma, always pain, deformity dysfunction. Recent studies have shown that OA closely related to oxidative stress, which serves as a major cause chronic inflammation in cartilage, leading irreversible structural changes joint. As transcription factor, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (Nrf2) plays an important role antioxidant system, regulates expression cytoprotective genes facilitate elimination reactive oxygen species (ROS). In this review, we summarized dramatic function stress pathology, established complex regulatory network Nrf2 progression, aimed provide new insights into treatment OA.
